Leo R. “Skip” McAloon III

Of Counsel

Skip was born in Providence, RI.  He was raised in Rhode Island and lived there until he started Tulane Law School in 1985, and has lived in New Orleans since that time.  Skip has been practicing law in Louisiana since 1988 and in Texas since 1994.  He is licensed in both states and admitted in all state and federal courts in Louisiana and many state and federal courts in Texas.  His practice areas include: Aviation, Admiralty and Maritime, and Oil and Gas litigation, as well as Oil and Gas contractual work.

Representative Cases

Skip has a wide-ranging practice area that includes personal injury claims, including aviation accidents, premises liability, and workplace injuries, as well as property damage associated with aviation incidents.  During the last 30 plus years he has handled and tried case in both state and federal courts, as well as negotiated contracts on behalf of the firm’s clients.

Education

Skip attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, a United States Coast Guard Unlimited Third Mate License, and a United States Naval Reserve commission.  After graduating from Kings Point he worked as a third mate on oceangoing vessels for about three years.  Skip then entered Tulane University Law School, from which he graduated with honors in 1988.  He immediately began practicing law, handling mostly maritime matters for the first five years of his practice.  Skip joined the firm in 1993 and was elected as a partner in 1997.

Personal
Skip has periodically taught Trial Advocacy at Loyola Law School in New Orleans. He has served on numerous boards and committees associated with the schools that his sons have attended. Skip also volunteers at a local homeless shelter.
