Rebecca E. Duggan

Becca focuses her practice in insurance coverage litigation, but also has broad experience with insurance defense and liability issues. She is passionate about working with clients to identify the most effective and efficient resolution for the case or matter. She puts clients at ease by identifying solutions, minimizing exposure, and maximizing available solutions and/or defenses. She has a history of successfully litigating, mediating and resolving insurance coverage disputes in State and Federal courts throughout the country, including both first and third party disputes. She has experience representing insurers from pre-suit through trial, and if necessary, appeal, depending on the needs and desires of each client.
Following law school, she practiced for several years in Chicago in the realm of insurance coverage and insurance defense handling cases involving medical malpractice, general tort litigation, construction negligence, premise liability and other direct negligence actions. She has extensive experience handling insurance coverage disputes in the London market involving complex issues of contract formation, policy interpretation, policy defenses, and dispute resolution. Prior to joining the firm, Becca relocated to New Orleans to work for a boutique insurance defense firm where she handled cases involving general liability, professional negligence, whistleblower actions, and catastrophic loss for state, federal, and multi-district litigation.
Helped secure summary judgment in various state and federal courts determining no coverage for first and third party claims.
Settled a bodily injury claim after receiving partial summary judgment in favor of client insurer due to the application of the employers’ liability exclusion.
Successfully investigated and negotiated settlement on behalf of several clients at a fraction of exposure well within policy limits.
Originally from the Kansas City metropolitan area, Becca graduated from Kansas State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. After completing her undergraduate studies, she received her Juris Doctorate from University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2008. Becca is licensed in all Louisiana and Illinois state courts, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the Northern District of Illinois.
Becca is a member of the Louisiana State and American Bar Associations. In her free time she paints, practices and teaches yoga, and spends time with her husband and dog.
