Jared L. Shurman

Jared Landon Shurman is from Long Island, New York. He attended Tulane University where he earned a degree in political economics. In 2021, he graduated from Tulane University Law School where he was an award-winning member of the Trial Advocacy team, a board member of the Tulane University Baseball Arbitration Competition, and earned the CALI Award for Academic Excellence in Comparative International Law. Following a summer clerking for the Department of Justice, Jared worked in high-volume criminal defense before transitioning to civil law. Jared joined Gieger, Laborde & Laperouse, LLC in 2024.

Representative Cases

Jared’s practice is litigation based. He has defended hundreds of first-party property damage claims arising out of Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Ida on behalf of Fortune 500 companies and multinational insurers. He has effectively pursued settlements through mediations as mandated under the Eastern and Western District of Louisiana’s Case Management Orders, through settlement conferences with magistrate judges, and through informal settlement negotiations. Jared has been successful in writing and arguing motions to dismiss to the satisfaction of his clients.
