Erika Mullenbach Cunningham grew up in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. She is licensed to practice in Louisiana, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. Erika started her legal career with a law firm in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; however, she fell in love with New Orleans during her years at Tulane Law and returned to make New Orleans her home after Hurricane Katrina. Her practice areas include Insurance Coverage Litigation and general insurance defense.

Representative Cases

Erika practices primarily in the area of insurance coverage. Erika has practiced in the areas of construction defect and professional liability claims representing architects, contractors, and engineers. Erika has also practiced in the areas of commercial transportation, premises liability, medical malpractice, harassment, toxic tort, and other areas of general civil litigation.

Education

Erika attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. During her undergraduate years, Erika worked summers at the United States Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) in Frederick, Maryland where she conducted independent research in the Virology and Diagnostic Systems Divisions and developed techniques for experiments performed in the labs at USAMRIID and other facilities around the world.

Erika earned her law degree from Tulane University School of Law , where she was a member of the Tulane Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property. She also earned a Professional Certification in European Legal Studies while at Tulane Law, which included study at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France.
